Yunnan starts importing Myanmar pineapples via Wanding
6.4 tons of fresh pineapples from Myanmar have entered China through the Wanding border crossing in west Yunnan’s Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture. This marks Yunnan’s first import of Myanmar pineapples since the produce was approved to enter China in November 2024.
Customs officers inspect fresh Myanmar pineapples at Wanding.
“The pineapples come from best growing regions in Myanmar and are highly anticipated for their sweet, juicy flavor and delicate texture,” said Wen Juan, head of the Yude Trading Company based in Dehong.
“For the safety of the imported pineapples, we need to know if the imports carry pests, diseases or pesticide residues, strictly following the requirements for imported fruits,” said He Li, an officer at Wanding Customs.
Data shows that in the first half of this year, Yunnan imported 6,174 tons of fruits through Wanding, an significant increase year on year.
