Team Lijiang crushes opponent 5-0 at league division

The Lijiang division of the 2025/2026 Yunnan Football City League kicked off in northwest Yunnan’s Lijiang city on December 14.

Amidst the deafening cheers of 27,000 spectators, the Lijiang team displayed an overwhelming momentum on their home turf, securing a 5-0 victory over the visiting Wenshan team.

"This is the first time I’ve watched such a large-scale event live in my hometown," said Mr. Wang, a fan who traveled back to Lijiang specifically for the match. "I came all the way here to cheer for the Lijiang team, and seeing our team win the game beautifully filled me with pride."

Lijiang has long been renowned as a "cradle of football," with the sport enjoying a rich legacy in the region. From the earthy village pitches of the past to today’s modern sports centers, football has been rooted in the spirit of Lijiang people.
