48,100 int'l trips recorded at Kunming airport during holiday

During the five-day May Day holiday, central Yunnan's Kunming Changshui International Airport handled 48,100 international passenger trips, marking a 12.9% year-on-year increase.

16,000 Chinese tourists departed from Kunming airport for overseas destinations, a 7.84% rise from the previous year. With more flights reaching Thailand, Malaysia, the Maldives and Indonesia, the airport has emerged as a key departure hub for travelers heading to South and Southeast Asia.

Foreign nationals entering China via Kunming airport totaled 6,020, up 24.1% year-on-year. The overseas travelers mostly come from Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. Notably, 4,069 foreigners entered visa-free, accounting for 67.6% of the total.

"This is my first trip to China with friends. We visited all the must-see spots in Yunnan, Beijing and Sichuan—time flew by!" said Salaon Fhahtn, a Thai tourists land, hoping to explore more Chinese destinations next time.
