The Mohan border gate on China-Laos Railway saw the import and export volume of fresh fruits and vegetables reach a daily average of more than 1,500 tons in May.

Since the beginning of this year, the import and export of fresh goods via the railway border gate in south Yunnan has added up to 64,000 tons. China imported 58,000 tons of fruits from Laos and other countries.

To meet the demand in transporting durian, mangosteen and other perishable fruits, the railway department has designated more than 1,000 cold-chain containers to the transport services in question, said a dispatching staff at the China Railway Kunming Group.

Thanks to the Lancang-Mekong express trains on China-Laos Railway, it only takes 26 hours for the fresh goods to be transported between Kunming, China and Vientiane, Laos.
