Thai enterprise optimistic about cooperation with Yunnan

The fourth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) was held in south China's Hainan province from April 13 to 18.

Thai Charoen Pokphand group has participated in the expo for four consecutive years. This year, they brought more than 400 products to the exhibition, launching more than 10 new products. The number of exhibits, new products, and booth size all exceeded the scale of the previous three sessions.

"By participating in the expo, we hope more Chinese consumers and operators in the food industry to see and taste our high-quality new products," said Yang Gang, president of Charoen Pokphand group's China Market Center and E-commerce Department, in an interview.

From the perspective of the market entity, what discoveries are there in the current consumer market? "Nowadays, Chinese consumers are more concerned about health and are more pursuing novelty, uniqueness, and cost-performance ratio," said Yang.

"Taking durian and shrimp as examples. In the past two years, durians have been welcomed by Chinese consumers. So this year, we plan to launch eight to nine new durian varieties in the Chinese market," Yang said.

Regarding shrimp, the Charoen Pokphand group has farm-raised shrimp, which are large in size, tight in the flesh, and rich in astaxanthin. Besides, it just takes 90 minutes from harvesting to freezing the shrimps, guaranteeing they taste fresh and delicious.

Yunnan is the Chinese province closest to Thailand by land, and the Charoen Pokphand group has been cooperating with Yunnan for many years.

The feed factory invested by the Charoen Pokphand group in Yunnan currently has an annual output of more than 400,000 tons, and the pig farming project in Yunnan can produce more than 500,000 pigs per year.

The layer chicken project in Kunming's Dongchuan district has a stock of 3 million. These three projects employ more than a thousand people locally, with a production value of nearly 4 billion yuan.

In March this year, the Charoen Pokphand group sent representatives to Kunming city, Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture, and other places for on-site inspections. Many of Yunnan's flower and fruit enterprises expressed their desire to enter the Thai market through cooperation.

"The Charoen Pokphand Group is very optimistic about the prospects of the Chinese consumer market and Yunnan's rich natural resources and plateau characteristic agriculture," said Yang. He added that in the future, Charoen Pokphand group will collaborate with Yunnan in agriculture, animal husbandry, and food industries.
